Whiplash & Spinal Trauma

Dr. Farah became Maters Certified by the San Diego Spine Research Institute in 1996 as an advanced practitioner and leader in Whiplash and Spinal Trauma.

This training led to advanced knowledge of injuries commonly seen in auto and personal injury incidents. Most auto accident-related injuries don’t show up on X-rays. These soft tissue problems commonly involve muscles, ligaments, cartilage and nerve roots, and many involve brain and spinal cord areas.

The forces related to these traumas are often of very short duration, which leads to high shear focuses on spinal support tissues and nervous system components such as the brain stem and spinal cord.

Improper healing often leads to chronic pain and suffering and may contribute to spinal arthritis, which progresses with time and aging. Injuries received in accidents often take months or even years to cause destructive arthritic disability and chronic pain.

Since emergency rooms were designed to evaluate life and death conditions, they often fail to recognize damage done in whiplash injury.

Dr. Farah has specific training in diagnosis and treatment of these conditions. If you have been in an accident at any point in your life, you should be evaluated for its effect on your spine. Dr. Farah’s training in diagnosis and treatment of these conditions can save you years of pain and suffering. His treatment guidelines are based on an international classification of whiplash-affected disorders.
