Nutrition Counselor

Nearly 70% of Americans are overweight and 35% are clinically obese. Almost 2/3 of Americans have borderline Type II Diabetes. Heart disease is the number one killer of Americans (more than accidents, murders, and street drugs combined!). Epidemic explosions of cancer, Alzheimer’s and autism have been linked to chronic inflammatory autoimmune disease.

Is it any wonder that nutrition has become a mainstream topic in society for reversing years of abuse from poor diet choices? Even the federal government has admitted to mistakes in authorizing a food pyramid in the 1980s, which has led to exponential increases in heart disease, diabetes, and strokes.

The estimated cost of obesity in America is $147 billion annually, and the average health care cost per person of obesity is $1,500 per year higher than those of normal weight. Most drug therapies treat symptoms of each consequence of poor diet choices and don’t address the underlying causes.

Over 50% of Americans now supplement their diet with nutrition products. This has created a $26 billion supplement industry. Unfortunately, regulation of the nutrition business is lacking, and there is an incredible amount of misinformation surrounding “miracle” products. That is why in 2008, Dr. Farah became a Certified Nutritional Counselor through the Wisconsin Department of Regulation and Licensing Chiropractic Examining Board. This process required completion of graduate training courses led by experts in the nutrition field. Dr. Farah passed exams for each module as required by the state of Wisconsin. This post-graduate training continues annually as Dr. Farah maintains this certification.

Don’t trust your nutrition needs to retail sales clerks or non-licensed individuals. Your health goals can be met with consistent, mild lifestyle changes and guidance from a professional trained specifically to help you.
